Horie is a co-founder of CSR Design Green Investment Advisory, Co., Ltd., which focuses on investment advisory and research on green buildings/developments. He also has 22 years' experience in finance – he has worked for IBJ and Merrill Lynch, and also served as Managing Director responsible for structured finance including carbon trading and renewable energy funds at Deutsche Bank. Horie is a graduate of The University of Tokyo's Faculty of Law, and obtained an MBA from the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. He holds a LEED AP O+M and a CASBEE AP for Real Estate. He is a member of several committees hosted by Japanese Ministry of Land Infrastructure Transport and Tourism (MLIT) and Ministry of the Environment (MOE), and serves as a member of Advisory Group of UNEP FI Property Working Group as well as a member of Advisory Committee of PRI Japan Network and a member of Japanese Sustainable Development Council of Urban Land Institute (ULI).
